The cause of the fire is not immediately known as investigations are yet to be conducted.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service were contacted to come to the scene to help bring the raging fire under control. Good samaritans who rushed to the scene to lend their support to fight the fire couldn’t hide their frustrations as the GNFS couldn’t immediately intervene to provide the needed help.
During a phone interview by Dasuma Radio 99.1 MHZ with Mr. Mubarik Abdul-Wahab, he disclosed that the two tankers were discharging fuel then of a sudden there was a spark from one of the tankers which quickly spread to catch the other tanker. The drivers and mates immediately used fire extinguishers to fight the fire.
According to Manager Mubarik, no fatality was recorded and the machines and pumps were safe from.the fire incident. The tankers fortunately were not seriously damaged.
The only casualty was a drivers mate who received some minor burns around his feet when he was trying to fight the fire with an extinguisher.
