The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Yendi Constituency has described the New Patriotic Party in the Constituency as “Scam, Lies and Deceit”. This description came during a press conference today, 15th August, 2024, at the party office in Yendi.
During the press conference, the constituency communication director of the NDC Mr.Adam Halid Kpukpalga, mentioned some projects that the NPP government promised to execute, which they failed to fulfil.
Mr. Kpukpalga mentioned the Yendi water project, Military Airstrip, among others.
“The President, H.E Nana Akufo Addo made the promise to provide the people of Yendi with portable drinking water from Gnani during the investiture of Ndan Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II and reiterated same when he honored an invitation by His Royal Majesty Ndan Ya- Naa to participate in the 2019 Damba festival. The water facility was aimed at providing the people of Yendi and it’s environs with fifteen thousand cubic meters of water daily to meet the demands and the sod was cut by the president flin 2020 for work to commence.
On 8th August 2022, the President visited Gbewaa Palace and assured the Overlord and the generality of Dagbon that the process to select a contractor was ongoing and that by October 2022 the construction will begin which is yet to come to pass.
The communication director added that, the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also received a plea from the Ya Naa to expedite the process leading up to the construction and rehabilitation of the Yendi water system and nothing has been done.
A mention was also made at the press conference of the Finance Minister Honorable Dr Mohammed Amin Adam who double as the Member of Parliament for Karaga Constituency reported to have said that thirty percent of the work has been done regarding the Yendi Water Project meanhwile no contractor at site and that the minister should desist from deception, falsehood and naked lies.
In the press conference, they also highlighted another promise made by the Vice President Dr Bawumia to the Overlord and people of Yendi of a cabinet meeting approval of construction of a Military Airstrip in Yendi which the NDC described as another scam and deception. “The Akufo Addo/Bawumia government intends to build a military Airstrip here in Yendi. You would soon see military planes taking off and landing here in Yendi, which will also facilitate easy travels for special occasions.”
They concluded by saying that the Yendi Water Project and several other projects will see the light of day when NDC and H.E John Dramani Mahama come back to power in 2025.
